Alice's and Nelly's Cottages are located in the valley of Weardale in Durham with spectacular views over the High Pennines.

Nelly's Cottage - Sleeps 6

One large twin bedroom with en suite shower room & WC. A high-backed chair, table lamps, wardrobe, dressing table and hairdryer. Overlooking the garden at the back of the cottage very peaceful room.

One large twin bedroom with bedside tables and lamps, chest of drawers and wardrobe. This room is at the side of the cottage and overlooks the side terrace.

One double bedroom with king sized bed and a large en suite bathroom. This bathroom can be also accessed through the corridor so that the twin bedroom can use as well. This room overlooks the back of the garden.

Open wide corridors that lead to the rear door that goes out into the garden.

Spacious large fitted kitchen (Table seats six) that is very well equipped with a new cooker electric, hob, fridge, freezer and fridge slow cooker. 4-slice toaster. Microwave oven, lots of extra plates, mugs, dishes.

Open plan lounge with two large sofas and TV satellite, DVD player, Wi-Fi and log fire.

The accommodation is all on one level. All rooms are accessible by wheelchair.

Garden in a walled courtyard at the rear with seating.

Alice's Cottage - Sleeps 5

Alice's Cottage is the slightly smaller of the two cottages with a slight gradient up to the front door. The front door opens into an entrance hall that leads to a large open-plan area leading off to the lounge, kitchen and three bedrooms.

A beautifully furnished well-proportioned lounge with chocolate leather sofas and pretty cushions with a log effect stove that can be operated by remote control. Two large table lamps on nests of tables at the side of the sofas, also Radio. Satellite TV and DVD player.

Large fully fitted kitchen and dining table in beech that will seat six or more. Lots of crockery and utensils.

Electric oven with halogen hob, microwave, dishwasher, 4 Slice toaster, double sinks, washing machine, fridge/freezer, slow cooker, TV satellite & CD radio player.

A large open corridor leads to all bedrooms.

Double bedroom is beautifully furnished with creams and Autumn colours the woodwork and furniture are pine - a good-sized room with a king-size bed (with duvets) and bedside cupboards with large table lamps. Wardrobe and drawers. Leads into a large en suite bathroom with bath and handrails and a shower over the bath, spacious WC and two washbasins, all in white with a chair and dressing table.

Accessed from the corridor is the single bedroom that overlooks the garden area. The room is tastefully decorated in pine with a three-foot-wide bed (with duvet) and pretty bed linen. There is also a chest of drawer bedside tables and lamps and hanging space.

To the back of the cottage is an extra-large twin bedroom with walk-in wardrobe. Two three-foot-wide beds (with duvets) and throws, bedside lamps and tables and drawers. There is also a dressing table with a stool, an easy chair that is moveable and useful for someone who needs a little more comfort.

A shower room is en suite to the twin room but is also accessible from the corridor so that the single room can use the shower room. With a large roll-in shower, with handrails and space around the WC also fine for a wheelchair.

A side door leads outside to a pleasant seating area. Patio and sheltered garden with access through the archway back to the front of the cottage where you will be met with amazing panoramic views looking down the dale.

Sorry, no dogs or pets in the cottages. We have stabling for horses and ponies but there is a charge made.

The cottage is all trimmed up for Christmas and New Year with Christmas Tree, decorations and lights.

Visiting Cowshill & Exploring Durham

There is plenty to see and do in the area including walking The Pennines to visiting Weardale Steam Railway. Other popular attractions to visit include:
