Galdenoch Castle Lodge in Meikle Galdenoch offers fantastic self catering accommodation, adjacent to the amazing ruins of 16th Century Galdenoch Castle. We are close to the charming fishing village of Portpatrick and ideal for a tranquil break in Dumfries & Galloway .

Accommodation

Our beautifully furnished holiday home has been finished to a high standard, boasting designer decor and soft furnishings, blended with natural wood, slate and stone finishes. The cottage sleeps 12 people and is nestled on a large working farm, with paths leading to 2 BBQ huts at Loch More and Saltpan Bay.

Inside our fabulous lodge is a well-equipped kitchen including a dishwasher, cooker, two upright fridge/freezers, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, beer pump (kegs available on request) and seating. Enjoy some delicious meals in the dining room which has a toasty log-burning stove for the winter months and a TV with Freesat.

After a day on the beach, unwind in the cosy lounge which has an electric coal effect stove. Patio doors open onto a lovely patio area with garden furniture for al fresco dining. A useful utility room comes with a tumble dryer, washing machine, clothes horse, iron and ironing board. On the ground floor, there are also 2 en suite twin rooms and a double en suite room. A WC and boot/cloakroom are also on the ground floor.

The first floor from the hall has a twin en suite room, 2 single rooms and a shower room. On the first floor from the kitchen, there is a wonderful double room with a king size sleigh bed and an en suite bathroom. All linen and towels are included.

Visiting Meikle Galdenoch & Exploring Dumfries & Galloway

The delightful harbour village of Portpatrick is nearby and home to brilliant restaurants, great pubs and picturesque clifftop walks. In Stranraer you can take a dip in the swimming pool or catch a movie at the cinema, whilst golfers can play a round at world-famous Turnburry, just an hour’s drive from the lodge. Closer to home, pony trekking and riding lessons can be enjoyed on a neighbouring farm just 1 ½ miles away. Excellent attractions to visit include:

Logan Botanic Gardens and Tearoom.
Glenwham Gardens.
Ardwell Gardens.
