Fremington, Barnstaple, Devon
Muddlebridge Cottages offer self catering accommodation located in the village of Fremington near Barnstaple in Devon. We offer superb accommodation as well as a range of fantastic onsite facilities.
AccommodationThe stables and barn were then most innovatively converted in the mid 1980's to form the cottages, each self contained with its own unique character and interior layout. The holiday cottages are very comfortably furnished, with easy chairs/sofas, dining suites and bedroom furniture in pine. Open plan living rooms provide sitting, dining and recently refitted kitchen areas.
Our two largest cottages, Thatchers and Wheelwrights, are adjacent and occupy the top two floors of the converted carriage barn. Each has three bedrooms (one double, two twin bedded) and sleeps six people. The double bedroom in each has an en suite shower cubicle with wash basin and WC, whilst the twin rooms share another bathroom. All three bedrooms in Thatchers are upstairs whereas, in Wheelwrights, the double bedroom is downstairs, off the living room.
Millers also has three upstairs bedrooms (double, twin and single), one bathroom and a slightly smaller living room than Thatchers and Wheelwrights.
Potters and Weavers, our two bedroomed cottages, each sleeps four. Weavers comprises one double and one twin bedroom. The second bedroom in Potters is fitted with full size bunk beds (which meet latest safety requirements) and this cottage has a larger living room. Bedrooms and bathroom in each are upstairs.
Forge sleeps two or three people in its good sized bedroom, furnished with one double and one single bed. The bedroom, which has a door opening out onto the garden, is accessed by an open plan staircase off the living room, with separate kitchen and bathroom also downstairs.
Saddlers, which sleeps two (double bed), has a spacious living room, separate kitchen fitted with breakfast bar, bathroom off an inner hall, and an open plan staircase to the delightful little bedroom.
Onsite Facilities & Local AreaThe fully tiled indoor pool is 8m x 4m with a depth range from 1.0 to 1.5 metres. It is open for use from April/Easter to the end of October half term week and over the Christmas/New Year period subject to occupancy levels. The sauna cabin is located in the spacious pool building. It seats up to six or two reclining. A £1 coin provides one hourís heating of the stove which gives a hot cabin for 30 - 40 minutes.
The rear garden area, mainly grassed, provides extensive outdoor play and games areas. The play-area comprises: furnished two-room playhouse, wooden play boat, climbing frame with slide, monkey-bars, swings, two trampolines and a selection of ride-on toys.
The two Games rooms, open daily 9.30am-9.00pm, provide table tennis, pool table (20p/game) and table football (20p). In one of the Games rooms there is a bookcase containing a selection of adult, childrenís and toddlers books to borrow during your visit. The main Games Room houses an extensive display of brochures for places to visit and things to do in the area.
Scattered around the grounds are a number of solid wooden picnic tables and benches, seating up to eight. There are three brick-built barbecues and two portable ones. At the top of the garden, a delightful raised summerhouse with south facing verandah (and selection of garden seats) provides an ideal spot for reading, relaxation or early evening drinks.
From the Quay, the Tarka Trail provides 25 miles of traffic free cycling through picturesque and varied landscapes via Instow, Bideford (East the Water), Gt. Torrington, Petrockstowe to Meeth.
