The Mornacott Cottages are a collection of beautifully appointed and award-winning holiday homes on the edge of Exmoor National Park. Our cottages are on our 650 acre working farm at Bishops Nympton near South Molton, making us a fantastic base for those who are looking to explore North Devon.
About The Mornacott CottagesWe have three cottages available on our farm, all of which have been tastefully refurbished from original farm buildings. They now offer high-quality accommodation for families and friends, which include all of the modern conveniences you would expect in a luxury property. Whether you want to use your cottage as a base for exploring the local area, as a retreat from the frantic pressure of day to day life or to participate in many of the on-farm activities available we’re confident that you will not be disappointed.
Whilst the surrounding area of Devon is truly beautiful, guests can enjoy a break away to Mornacott and not have to worry about leaving the farm grounds. There are 650 acres to explore and we have many activities available on site that the whole family can enjoy. Some of the activities do have a small charge, all of which goes directly to making further improvements to our countryside. On-site activities include:
Heated indoor 13 metre swimming pool.
Games room with pool table, table tennis, table football and darts.
Fishing on the River Yeo which is stocked with brown trout & salmon. Guests need to bring their own fishing gear.
Clay pigeon shooting – we have a BASC qualified instructor who can provide lessons for beginners and experienced shooters.

For larger parties, we also have a group entertaining barn. This is a stunning building that has breathtaking views across the countryside which has been tastefully decorated and furnished throughout.
Orchard CottageA stunning barn full of charm and character. The main living space is open plan, with two distinct seating areas. The dining/kitchen area is fully equipped and includes everything you need to cook up a storm in the kitchen and the living area has magnificent views over the surrounding countryside. A widescreen television, with separate DVD player, complements the main seating area which also benefits from a woodburning stove. There are 4 bedrooms in the cottage, all of which are made ready for your arrival. The bedrooms comprise of:
Ground floor double room with en suite facilities and underfloor heating This room has zip/link beds and can be made as a king size or twin bed depending on your requirements.
Two first floor double bedrooms with en suite facilities.
First floor double room with zip/link beds and en suite facilities.
Outside there is a large fenced South facing terrace with two separate seating areas, barbeque and steps giving private access to the orchard.
Barn CottageOriginally built as a store and press for cider apples, it now offers luxurious accommodation that enjoys stunning country views. The barn was completely rebuilt using traditional cob and stone and nestles under a traditional slate roof. The main living area includes a large open plan kitchen/dining/living area, perfect for entertaining. There is also a separate snug room for those cosy evenings. A widescreen television, with separate DVD player, complements the snug which also benefits from a woodburning stove. This cottage has three bedrooms, all of which are made ready for your arrival. They include:
Ground floor double room with zip/link beds and en suite facilities.
First floor double room.
First floor double room with zip/link beds.
(Please note that the beds in the downstairs bedroom are standard 2'6" beds, giving a 5' double, but are best suited for children when made up as singles).
Outside there is a garden with a large terrace and seating area and a barbeque.
The Old StablesFormerly the stable block that housed the three horses that worked the farm prior to the arrival of the first tractors, The Old Stables sits within the farmstead and benefits from glorious country views and a private sun trap terrace. The accommodation on the ground floor comprises a large open plan living space, a dining area and kitchen/breakfast area, with underfloor heating throughout. A widescreen television, with separate DVD player, complements the main seating area. All bedrooms are on the first floor, which is reached by an open tread oak staircase. The bedrooms available are:
Double room with en suite facilities.
Two double rooms with zip/link beds and en suite facilities.
Outside there is a large fenced and walled terrace with a seating area and barbeque.
Visiting Bishops Nympton & Exploring DevonWhilst peaceful seclusion is guaranteed by our location, we are only ten minutes from the A361 North Devon Link Road ensuring easy access to the glorious beaches such as Saunton Sands and Woolacombe. Both of these beaches are ideal for surfers or bathers alike. We border Exmoor National Park and are a short distance from South Molton with its farmers and pannier markets held each week and a full range of shops, pubs and a supermarket. The larger town of Barnstaple is within 16 miles with numerous shops, a theatre and cinema.
When exploring this part of North Devon, you will find that there are a wealth of attractions nearby that all ages can enjoy. Within an hour’s drive you can reach:
