£360 - £525

Tinsmith's Cottage dates from 1765 and is situated at Cromford, near Matlock in Derbyshire. Steeped in history and part of the Derwent Valley world heritage site this beautiful cottage was once a local leadminers home housing two families upstairs and animals downstairs.

The cottage accommodates up to 6 people, the living room has a TV, DVD player. There are a number of DVD's and CD's for visitors to use. The hayloft door opens to overlook the "Bear Pit". Well equipped kitchen with Fridge freezer, Electric Oven, Washer, Microwave, Kettle and a good range of crockery and cutlery. Dining room with ample space for six people to eat in comfort. Double bedroom with wardrobe and drawer unit. Family bedroom with double bed and two single beds. Small courtyard to the front of the property overlooking the "Bear Pit".

Within a couple of minutes' walk there is a children's park, local shops, 3 pubs, cafes and a restaurant. The village of Cromford is well known through its association with Sir Richard Arkwright, who in 1771 established a water- powered cotton-spinning mill here. The mill was powered by the plentiful supply of water from Cromford Sough, known locally as the "Bear Pit", which the cottage overlooks. This was the drainage point for the Wirksworth lead mines, and joined Bonsall Brook just above the River Derwent. The Sough had never been known to freeze, and was thus ideal for powering a mill.
