Local AreaCartmel, famous for its 12th century Priory, is just one mile away, with pubs serving good food and drink as well as the usual shops. A little further afield is Grange-over-sands with its promenade, and the historic market town of Kendal is only a short journey. Nearby, Bigland Hall offers activities such as fishing and clay pigeon shooting, and for golfers, there are two courses at Grange, one a fell course, is only a mile and a half away.
The surrounding countryside provides an abundance of hikes for the more energetic visitor, and for those looking for something a little more sedate, there are dozens of more gentle walks to choose from. The choice is entirely up to you at Westgate Cottage.
