Croftlands Cottages offer stunning self catering accommodation in Thornthwaite. Our 3 cottages near Keswick are beautifully furnished and in a peaceful location. We are the perfect place to escape to in this beautiful part of Cumbria.

Squirrel Cottage

This tastefully renovated cottage sleeps up to two people. The cottage is brimming with character and had exposed stone walls, oak beams and wooden flooring. Stunning views of Skiddaw can be admired throughout the property. Downstairs there a seating area with a sofa, log burning stove, TV and DVD player. The kitchen area is fully equipped and comes with a gas hob, electric fan oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer. The dining area comes with a small table and seating for two people.

Upstairs there is a king size oak four poster bed. The room comes with an en suite bathroom which includes a large corner bath and separate shower enclosure. Facilities include a digital radio, hair dryer and electric clothes airier. Outside is a lovely patio area which boast glorious views of Skiddaw. A BBQ is also available.

Fox Howe Cottage

This wonderful single level cottage sleeps up to 4 people. From the front of the cottage there are breathtaking views of Skiddaw. The open plan living/kitchen area has oak flooring and a tiled section alongside the kitchen units. The living area comes with two sofas, a log burner, TV and DVD player. Doors open out onto the patio area. The fully equipped kitchen comes with a gas hob, electric fan oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer. The extendable dining table overlooks the patio.

Bedrooms consist of a king size en suite and twin en suite room. In each bedroom there is a digital radio/alarm clock and hair dryer. Outside is a lovely patio area surrounded by a trellis fence, making it secure for dogs. A BBQ is available.

Jasmine Cottage

This cosy two bedroom cottage is just around the corner from the other two cottages. The open plan kitchen/living area will suit all your needs. The living area comes with two settees, coal effect gas stove, flat screen TV, DVD player and a radio. The decking area has an oval dining table and French doors open onto the decking area. The kitchen includes a range of excellent appliances: electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge with a freezer compartment.

Bedrooms consist of 1 double en suite and a twin room with shower and a toilet. A separate toilet and wash basin is next to the living room. At the front of the cottage is a lovely veranda with far reaching views across the village.

Foxe Howe & Squirrel Cottage are not interlinked internally but are next door to each other. They can be rented out together for a party of up to six people.

Our cottages are dog friendly and we provide a range of facilities: dog treats, doggy bags and a bowl of water outside and inside the cottage. We can also provide dog equipment free of charge if you forget to bring anything.

Visiting Thornthwaite & Exploring Cumbria

Our lovely cottages are in the heart of the Northern Lake District National Park. You can explore magnificent mountains, lakes and valleys. Near us is Whinlatter Forest Park. It is a great place for walking and mountain biking. Orienteering courses are set up in the forest, including a WildPlay trail area for children and a GoApe Tree Top Adventure course. Forest Segway’s are also available. Lots of excellent attractions are nearby:
