Springfield Castle offers self catering accommodation situated in Drumcollogher in the heart of County Limerick on a magical 200 acre wooded estate. The self catering accommodation is approached along a magnificent there quarter mile long avenue, lined with ancient lime trees. An ideal vacation place for you, your family and friends. Our holiday home can sleep either 10, 15 or 25 people, so if you don’t want to hire the whole thing we can accommodate smaller parties!
AccommodationThe Baroness’s room with its rich colours and fabrics over looks the lawns to the west of the castle. It has a 5ft (queen) half tester bed and en-suite bathroom which has a gigantic bathtub with hand held shower.
The Baron’s room is a beautifully light room with a 6ft (king sized) four poster bed. The windows overlook the front of the castle with a great view of the mature trees (sometimes the herd of red deer can be seen grazing in the field) and along the avenue.
The Garden Room on the ground floor is a lovely airy room with a 5ft (Queen) bed. The beautiful fern pattern fabric in the curtains is taken from a design by the early 20th century American interior designer. Elsie de Wolfe. There is a very large en-suite tiled shower room suitable for wheelchair use. As the bedroom and bathroom are on the ground floor it is well suited to guests with less mobility.
The Green bedroom can be made up for you as either r a 6ft (king) bed or two twin beds. The room overlooks the front of the castle grounds. The bathroom is situated just across the hall and is very large with a sauna and walk in shower as well as a very large bathtub. This spacious bathroom overlooks the courtyard.
The oak bedroom with its large and luxurious ornately carved antique 4 poster single bed is a pleasure to sleep in.
The Red bedroom, also at the front of the castle, is a richly coloured room with a very high ceiling. This room can also be made up as either a 6ft (king) or as 2 two beds to suit your needs. It shared a shower room with two single rooms or you can use the bathroom opposite the green room.
The Yellow bedroom is a cosy double room with a lovely view over the front lawns.
Located over the archway into the courtyard the arch bedroom is a charming retreat with slit windows and a 5’ double bed.
The East Tower a wing of the castle is a fully self-contained family home. The bedrooms and bathrooms are each individual and are furnished with an eclectic collection of antique and modern furniture collected by the family from all over the world.
The East Tower has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and accommodates 10 guests. There are 4 double rooms, one of which, the Clock Suite, has an adjoining twin room. The East Tower is the result of four years of careful renovations undertaken to add to the accommodation without changing the style or atmosphere of the castle.
Local AreaBoth the villages of Drumcollogher and Broadford have good supermarkets and shops for supplied and of course plenty of good local pubs. Newcastlewest (10 miles) is a larger market town and Limerick city (35 miles). Cork city is 40 miles. Charleville is 12 miles and has a mainline railway station (Cork-Dublin).
