Lough Ine House
Loughine, Skibbereen, Co Cork
Lough Ine House dates back to 1830 and was once a hunting lodge for Lord Carbery. The house is set in its own 15 acre estate on the shores at Loughine near Skibberdeen and is beautifully equipped and furnished throughout, while still retaining several of its original features. Our holiday home can sleep up to 10 people and is an ideal base from which to explore Co Cork.
About Lough Ine HouseThe holiday house has a very elegant feel and is suited to those who want to enjoy comfortable country life. There is a unique vine filled conservatory, which adds to the particular charm of this house. Sun pours through the French doors in the interconnecting reception rooms that overlooks the garden. While unwinding in the cosy living room, guests can enjoy the spectacular views of the sea lough and the surrounding hills.
From the elegant hall, a lovely curved staircase leads you to the first floor where you will find 3 double bedrooms and a large bathroom. The main bedrooms look right over the sea and are elegantly decorated with material on the walls and period furniture. One of them has a four poster bed, the other, twin beds. The third, charming bedroom looks over the gardens.
On the ground floor there are two more wood panelled twin bedrooms and two bathrooms each with bath and shower. There are 5 double bedrooms in total (one of which has a 4 poster bed), 3 reception rooms, 3 bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, laundry room and a ping pong room. Stunning views can be enjoyed from most of the rooms at the holiday home.
Outside of the holiday home is a patio garden, many beautiful walk ways through the woods, gardens and on the private shingle beach on the shores of the lough.
Local AreaLough Ine is well known as one of the most romantic spots in West Cork. This enchanting lough is europe’s largest sea water lake and boasts an amazing array of unusual marine life. In the middle of the lough is and island on which the O’Driscolls built a castle, the ruins of which can still be seen today. Line fishing is permitted on Lough Ine. Trout fishing (with permit) on the river Ilen and deep sea fishing are available nearby in the picturesque harbour of Baltimore (4km), where you can also join the Sailing School. Just 2km from the house is an 18 hole golf course and a riding school.
There are excellent restaurants and pubs in Baltimore and Skibereen, and there are many places to visit such as Creagh Gardens, Sherkin Island, Cape Clear, Bantry House, Glendore, Schull and many more.
