Penrhyn was once a 150 acre working farm, today it is a 45 acre small holding in an idyllic valley setting next to the river Tywi. The farmhouse and traditional stone outbuildings are several hundred years old and the barn was converted into luxury four star (Welsh Tourist Board) self-catering holiday accommodation in 2008.
Penrhyn barn has superb, spacious accommodation for up to 10 people in five comfortable bedrooms.
The open plan lounge has floor to ceiling windows with amazing views of the Towy Valley and Cambrian Mountains. Comfy sofas, ancient oak beams, oak flooring and a wood burning stove set in a stone fireplace give the barn a warm, welcoming ambiance. Sky freeview TV, DVD, video, and a CD player are provided for your entertainment and there is also a selection of children’s videos and family games.
A flight of handcrafted oak stairs lead onto a landing with access to four bedrooms all with high ceilings and exposed beams. There is a double room with an en suite shower room with hand basin, WC and power shower. There is also two king size rooms and a twin room. All the bedrooms have stunning views of the valley with Crystal Mountain and the Cambrians to the north and the rapids and pools of the river to the south. A shower room with a double power shower, hand basin and toilet is situated next to the twin room and opposite is a large family bathroom with a jacuzzi bath with shower over, hand basin and toilet.
The ground floor is heated by oil under floor heating and upstairs by radiators; all the heating is thermostatically controlled for your comfort.
Patio doors from the lounge open onto a large south facing patio with a gas BBQ and garden furniture. The patio has a ramp for wheelchairs and a portable telescopic ramp provides entry into the barn. To the rear there is a lawn with a badminton net and access to the utility room and stables with safe storage for fishing equipment, bikes and canoes. Stables and grazing for visitors with their own horses can be provided, just give us a call with your requirements. There is ample parking in the farmyard, which has direct access through the front door to the lounge.
Guests can enjoy a wide variety of activities in Penrhyn and the surrounding local area. Whether you just want to take a relaxing walk to unwind or want something more active then we have miles of country side, rivers and gorges on our doorstep, so there is plenty to do for people of all ages.
