Upper Lodge Farm near Padworth in Reading, has two beautiful properties which can be booked per day, week and for short or long term lets. Our Farmhouse and Studio have both been recently renovated to a very high standard, are fully furnished and come equipped with all modern appliances. The accommodation is cosy and comfortable and well situated in a tranquil yet convenient setting in the beautiful Berkshire countryside.
Both are perfect for a self catering break in the South West of England, with excellent locality to Reading, Basingstoke and Newbury.
During your stay, you will have exclusive use of the house or studio and its tranquil private garden. Secure off road parking is available at no additional cost. The surrounding countryside offers outstanding open country views and walks giving visitors to Upper Lodge a unique opportunity to escape into the beautiful West Berkshire countryside and relax in quaint comfort and style.
The FarmhouseThe ground floor consists of a large fully fitted functional kitchen with an original working Aga, laundry facilities, separate dining area and lounge, all comfortably furnished. The first floor has two double bedrooms, a bathroom with shower and storage facilities for luggage. The bedrooms are stylishly furnished with towels and bedding provided. Upper Lodge Farm has central heating throughout the house to ensure a cosy atmosphere all year round. The lounge also benefits from an `open fire place`, which adds both warmth and a romantic charm to a winters night. Access to the internet and television are inclusive. A large picturesque garden surrounds Upper Lodge, with water features and abundant bird life. Ample off road parking is available. Transport can also be made available subject to prior arrangement with the owners.
The Studio ApartmentUpper Lodge Studio is situated in a tranquil setting in rural West Berkshire and is fully furnished and decorated to a high standard. The spacious living/sleeping area benefits from an abundance of natural light and looks out upon the well-tended garden. It has two exceptionally high quality sofa beds, which comfortably sit 3 people when folded and as beds they are spacious doubles. Satellite TV and internet are available at no additional cost. The lounge area also benefits from a dining table and four chairs which are positioned in the bay window, with floor to ceiling doors. When opened, these doors provide access directly into the beautiful garden. The modern kitchen is separate to the living area and has more than adequate space, storage and equipment, including laundry facilities. The self-contained shower room and separate WC have been finished to a high standard, giving the perfect place to freshen up. It also benefits from ample clothes storage. A well-tended, large private garden is for exclusive use of the property occupants and has a BBQ, seating and a variety of plant life.
Local AreaUpper Lodge Farm House shares the History of Padworth House (Padworth College) which it served, and goes back to the time of the English Civil War. In fact, one of the `skirmishes` of the Battle of Newbury took place in the road that divides the track leading to Padworth House (approximately 350 metres away).
A short distance away is the Kennet & Avon Canal and the River Kennet. Both these waterways offer beautiful nature walks along their banks. Narrow Boat hiring facilities are available at nearby Aldermaston Wharf.
Adjoining Upper Lodge Farm House is a small farm with stunning views overlooking the valley to the Hamlets of Chapel Row, Beenham, Bradfield and Bucklebury. The farm supports a small heard of mixed rare breed cattle, a small flock of Hampshire Sheep, also miniature pigs and goats.
