Welcome to “Ballydougan Pottery Courtyard Cottages” a claghan of Tourism Northern Ireland 4* self-catering properties located within the courtyard of “Bloomvale House”. Also on-site are a working Pottery, a Gift Shop, Coffee Lounge & Restaurant. Situated in a quiet rural location convenient to Craigavon and Lough Neagh, this is a wonderful base for a dreamy country retreat and ideal for exploring Counties Armagh, Down and many great locations within Northern Ireland.
Ballydougan Pottery has created self catering cottages from fine old listed stone barns (circa 1785) within an enclosed courtyard. Many of the original features such as wooden floors and vaulted ceilings have been retained and each has been carefully converted into modern comfortable holiday accommodation, yet while finished to the highest standard they maintain a charming traditional feel. Each cottage is bright and spacious with a living room /kitchen. Bedrooms are furnished in a traditional style with fine oak beds, wardrobes and dressing tables complementing the white bed linen. Bathrooms are complete with WC, bath and over bath shower, (exception Gaskins Grove - disabled access and walk in shower & Potter’s Cottage en suite, no bath), shaver point, hairdryer and white fluffy towels. Bramley AppleCan sleep 4 persons in a double and twin bedroom (three steps down to twin bedroom). The open plan kitchen and living room is bright and homely and furnished with comfort and style. The kitchen is well equipped and hand-thrown & decorated pottery in the aptly named “Bramley Apple” range adorns the kitchen dresser and is for everyday use by visitors.
Wheat Loft Studio ApartmentIs the perfect romantic hideaway for two people (double bedroom). Having ascended an external stairway you enter through the original doorway which is only five feet (1.5 meters) into a wonderful old grain store with stone walls, spacious high vaulted ceilings and oak flooring. Designed to provide quality and comfort Wheat Loft is open plan yet offers a timeless ambience where you can relax and indulge yourself.
Gaskins GroveIs bright and airy yet retains a very traditional country cottage feel. Being open planned it is designed with the less-able Guest and their family or friends in mind and offers modern accommodation for 6 people sleeping in 1 double and 2 twin bedrooms. The bathroom has been designed and equipped to NITB disabled access specification and includes a wet room style shower.
Dobsons CornerIs two storey and can sleep 5 people in 1 double, 1 twin and 1 single bedroom. The ground floor is light and specious and consists of a well equipped kitchen/ dining room, family bathroom and double bedroom. On the first floor are the single and twin bedrooms and a wonderful mezzanine sitting room. Quality and charm are evident throughout this country retreat which is a favourite with visiting Families and groups of friends.
Potters CottageIs a cosy ground floor apartment for 2 people in a double bedroom with en suite. Located in a quiet corner of the courtyard the open plan kitchen/living room is tastefully furnished and equipped. Leaving the living room you descend three steps into an inviting double bedroom with charming antique furniture and an en suite complete with shower (no bath). Home away from home!
FacilitiesAll properties are Tourism Northern Ireland 4* graded/classified.
All properties are well presented and well equipped and include widescreen TV, DVD player, Wi-Fi, microwave, dishwasher (except Bramley Apple), fridge and patio area.
Washing and laundry facilities are located in a separate “washday” room in the courtyard. They are a common facility for use by all guests.
Also on site are a working Pottery where you can arrange to take a pottery class or workshop, a Gift Shop stocking Ballydougan Pottery and other quality crafts and gifts, a Coffee Lounge and Restaurant serving Breakfast, Morning Coffee, Lunch and traditional Afternoon Tea. We can also organise picnics and Dinner in your cottage to enjoy after a day sightseeing.
