Steading Holiday Cottages are a varied collection of self catering holiday homes on the north, south and west coast of Scotland. All the properties are based on the West Coast of Scotland on the Ardnamurchan peninsula, the most westerly point on mainland.

Accommodation

All our properties are in a stunning setting, offering spectacular views, peace, and relaxation. From a romantic break to a traditional family holiday, we have an array of properties available. Each property comes with a well-equipped kitchen, comfy bedrooms, relaxing living area and quality bathrooms.

Comraich: Sleeps 6

Comraich (Gaelic for sanctuary and protection) is a comfortable and charmingly decorated house. Perched on the hillside overlooking the crofting village of Kilchoan it enjoys beautiful views over the sea to the Isle of Mull. It is set in a lovely, landscaped garden, with a paved patio and seating at the front, perfect for relaxing and admiring the view. Venture out the back of the house onto heather-covered ground or stroll down into the village where you'll find a cosy village pub, shop and regular ferry sailings to the town of Tobermory.

Ground floor: Entrance lobby leading to open plan living/dining area with a curtained off sleeping area with a double bed. Separate kitchen.
Bathroom with whirlpool bath and electric shower, toilet and washbasin.

Upstairs: Double bedroom with en-suite shower room with toilet and washbasin. Two single beds on landing area with access to an upper balcony.

Garden: Garden with a secure fence and gate to keep children and dogs safe, paved patio at front.

Jacks Ranch: Sleeps 8 (Please note that this property is currently under renovation and will be available in 2022)

Jack's Ranch situated on the hillside in the village of Kilchoan in West Ardnamurchan, has stunning views over the Sound of Mull. It's a short walk to a friendly local pub serving good food, play park, shop and the ferry with regular sailings to Tobermory, on the Isle of Mull.

Providing accommodation for up to eight people, Jack's Ranch manages to maintain a wonderful feeling of seclusion and is situated in a perfect location for exploring the coastline, hills and glens. It has a spacious, light living area with large floor-to-ceiling windows and a front terrace allowing you to enjoy the beautiful views.

Ian's Lodge: Sleeps 5

Ianís Lodge is a comfortable wooden house set high on the hillside behind the crofting village of Kilchoan. It has wonderful sea views over to the Isle of Mull and provides a great location for walking, fishing, and boat and wildlife tours. It backs straight on to the open hills and there is a convenient stile just behind the property. The comfortable and charming furnishings create a lovely country cottage feel and the accommodation would suit families looking for a break away from the strains of everyday life.

It is a great spot for star gazers, as there is no light pollution and on a clear night the Milky Way always provides a stunning treat. Conveniently situated for all the local amenities as well as walking and exploring, and just a fifteen minute walk from the ferry to Tobermory, Isle of Mull.

Upstairs: Twin bedroom and a single bed on landing .

Garden: A large open garden with an abundance of trees and shrubs.


The Byre: Sleeps 2 (Please note that this property isn't available until 2022)

The Byre, a semi-detached cottage in the heart of the village of Kilchoan, is an ideal retreat for couples visiting the untamed beauty of Western Ardnamurchan. It has been tastefully decorated with some unique touches, including a beautiful wall painting in the bathroom and a quirky, cast-iron spiral staircase winding its way from the living room to the king size bedroom, which enjoys beautiful views over the Sound of Mull. At the back of the cottage, there is patio area with seating, allowing you to enjoy the evening sun and the mature garden full of fruit trees and bushes. On cooler evenings, stock up the wood-burning stove in the cosy living room. Kilchoan is a haven for hill-walkers and wildlife enthusiasts as well as those just wanting a quiet, romantic break away from the rest of the world. All local amenities are within easy walking distance including a friendly pub, local shop, and regular ferry sailings to Tobermory, on the Isle of Mull.

Ground floor: Kitchen with dining area. Comfortable living room with high ceiling, and wood-burning stove and large bathroom with bath, hand-held shower, toilet and washbasin.

Upstairs: small converted attic bedroom with a kingsize bed.

Garden: patio at the back, attractive garden at the front, with seating feature.

Strathconon: Sleeps 4

Strathconon is a cosy wooden chalet enjoying one of the most elevated positions in the beautiful village of Kilchoan. Set high up on the hillside in the heart of the village, it has far reaching views over the sea to the Isle of Mull and Morvern. The house is in an ideal spot for exploring the surrounding countryside and the many beautiful sandy beaches around Ardnamurchan, including the stunning Sanna Bay.

Strathconon, is a south-facing property which basks in the best of the dayís sunshine throughout the summer months. It has an open plan design and a spacious, wooden interior giving it a Scandinavian feel. Directly behind the property, the heather covered hills are ideal for dog walking, hiking and spotting wildlife Ė you may even be lucky enough to see white-tailed sea eagles circling in the skies up above.

At the front of the property, there is a well-kept grassy garden, which is safe and spacious enough for children to play in.

On one level: Entrance porch, open plan living/dining/kitchen area.

Shower room with toilet and washbasin. One double bedroom and one twin bedroom.

Visiting Ardnamurchan& Exploring Argyll

Relax in Ardnamurchan's unspoilt wilderness; home to one of the most diverse mixes of wildlife that you can find anywhere in Scotland. On your doorstep, you will have the ďBig FiveĒ red deer roaming free, otters, golden eagles, red squirrels and seals. In addition, donít forget to look seaward where you can spot whales, dolphins and basking Sharks; back inland again, you might even see the elusive Scottish pine martin, Wild cat and much, much more beyond. We also have properties available in Portuairk, perfect for beach holidays.

Children can build sandcastles, scramble around the rock pools or fly kites. For the more energetic there are marked circular walks up and over the surrounding hills.

Argyll has stunning landscapes and is home to 23 inhabited islands. There are a range of interesting wildlife such as golden eagles and red squirrels.
