Mill of Tilquhillie
Banchory, Aberdeenshire, Royal Deeside
The Mill of Tilquhillie provides comfortable self catering holiday accommodation for 4 people and is located 2 miles from the centre of Banchory in Aberdeenshire. This wonderful holiday cottage was formally a water mill and it has been carefully restored to ensure that guests have a relaxing and tranquil retreat from which to explore this beautiful part of Scotland. The holiday cottage also has its own tennis court for guests to use.
About The Mill Of TilquhillieA well appointed holiday cottage that is set over 2 floors, the open plan design makes this a truly unique place to stay. Upstairs there is a well equipped galleried kitchen overlooking the main living area with wood burning stove. The stairs leading down from the door take you into the main living area. This is a light and spacious room that has 2 comfy sofas, Wi-Fi access, Freeview TV and a DVD player. A selection of DVDís and CDís are available for you to use during your stay.
The main bedroom arrangements may be adapted to suit; either a twin bedded layout or joined together to provide a king size double. The second bedroom opens off the rear of the main living room. This room was originally where the fire was set to toast the grain in the mill. As a result of this, the room is in fact in the style of an upside down pyramid of granite. Inspired by the interiors of boats, the owners have built one full sized bed into either side of the room, both about four feet off the ground with three steps up to each bed. This small but unique and delightful room has been adored by children and adults alike.
The holiday home benefits from having a newly renovated shower room.
Outside of the holiday cottage is a beautiful garden area, the property is set within the garden of the ownerís house however guests also have their own small enclosed garden to enjoy. There is lots of open water onsite so we ask that young children are closely supervised.
Local AreaThere are a number of golf courses and driving ranges within easy driving distance and whisky distilleries just waiting to offer up their secrets as to how one of Scotlandís most popular exports is created. Alternately why not follow the River Dee upstream to explore Aboyne, Braemar or perhaps visit Balmoral Castle. There are some wonderful areas to walk and enjoy the spectacular scenery or, if you prefer, there are many National Trust castles within easy travelling distance, including our local Crathes Castle, world famous for its gardens.
