Located in the picturesque village of Charney Bassett near Wantage, this holiday cottage is perfect for a peaceful countryside getaway. Guests can enjoy the tranquillity of rural Oxfordshire while being within easy reach of many top attractions, including scenic walking trails, historic landmarks and the vibrant city of Oxford.
The cottage features 5 bedrooms: 2 singles, 2 twins (which can be made into doubles with advance notice) and 1 downstairs twin. There’s a modern shower room, family bathroom and downstairs WC. The spacious sitting room, large dining room and well-equipped kitchen with hob, oven, washer/dryer, air fryer, microwave, toaster and dishwasher offer ample space and convenience. A cozy coffee nook adds to the comfort.
The outdoor space at Gillett’s Cottage is perfect for relaxing and entertaining. To the rear, you’ll find a BBQ, a comfortable corner sofa, outdoor dining for up to 8 guests and a picnic table—ideal for al fresco
meals. Lovely ambient lighting creates a warm and inviting atmosphere in the evenings. The area is private and fully enclosed, offering a safe and secure space for children and dogs to enjoy.
At the front of the cottage, there’s a peaceful patio area with an additional picnic table, providing the perfect spot to take in the views of the neighbouring sheep paddock and the beautifully maintained Manor gardens.
The Gillett’s Cottage ensures peace and privacy, separate from the Manor. It is family-friendly with options for a travel cot, high chair and stair gates and is also pet-friendly.
We are situated in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside, with lots of picturesque walking and cycling routes to enjoy. Just a 3-minute stroll away is the Chequers Inn which serves lovely meals and is open everyday apart from Monday.
