Summary

Dairy Cottage is located on the periphery of Ropley village, just a short walk from the community run village shop, church and cricket field. Close by is Alresford, a rural market town offering independent shops and a variety of eateries where you can amble along the River Arle (yes, uniquely the town and river are different spellings). There are countless footpaths accessible from Dairy Cottage to suit ramblers of all abilities. For those wanting to look further afield the South Downs National Park almost brushes our doorstep. Winchester is close by with all the amenities and history you associate with a cathedral city. The ports of Portsmouth and Southampton are less than 25 miles away.

Dairy Cottage

Dairy Cottage sleeps 5 people. It was converted into a holiday cottage in 1992 when we stopped milking cows. The farm continues to be run as a small holding, where we make hay and silage to feed to the cattle during the winter months.

Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms; the main room has a double and a single bed, with an en suite bathroom. There are 2 further single bedrooms (1 is very small and has a 2’6” bed). Downstairs there is a spacious lounge and dining area, along with a well equipped fitted kitchen and toilet/shower room with power shower.

Facilities include:

Cot.
Stairgate.
High chair.
Radio
Smart TV.
Washing machine.
Tumble dryer.
Dishwasher.
Fridge/freezer.
Oven.
Microwave.
Fibre Optic Broadband.

Outside is a large courtyard/patio area with garden furniture. There is also another area which is communal, with grass and a picnic styled table for guests and owners to use.

Visiting Ropley & Exploring Hampshire

Ropley is situated between the cathedral city of Winchester and the market towns of Alton and Petersfield. Nearby is the pretty town of Alresford where the River Arle flows into a lake. It provides fishing as well as a reservoir for the River Itchen navigation. Here one can take a pleasant stroll along the river past the old Fulling Mill.

Ropley is a 20 minute drive from the centre of Winchester and about 40 minutes from the New Forest.

Within a 10 minute drive from Ropley is Jane Austen's house in Chawton. The Watercress Line Steam Railway connects the towns of Alton and Alresford and stops at Ropley on the way through the picturesque countryside.

Our self catering cottage also has fishing and golf close by which you can take advantage of.
