Barn Croft offers self catering accommodation located in the hamlet of Applethwaite. This quiet hamlet is at the foot of Skiddaw near the market town of Keswick. This Cumbrian cottage sleeps six and is available for short breaks and longer holidays.
AccommodationBarn Croft dates back to the 18th Century. It has been converted from a barn into a beautiful two storey cottage.
The downstairs lounge includes a dining room table, open fire, TV, DVD player and CD player. From here you can enjoy panoramic views. Upstairs is a smaller lounge with comfortable seating. An ideal place to relax, unwind and read a good book.
You will find the kitchen is well equipped with everything you will need during your stay. Facilities include a fridge, washing machine, electric cooker, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, ironing board and iron.
Both bedrooms are made ready for your arrival. The master bedroom has a double bed and the second room is a twin. A double sofa bed is in the lounge if you need space for additional guests. All rooms share the family bathroom.
Outside is a private garden offering superb views of the local countryside. From the garden you can see Derwentwater, the Jaws of Borrowdale, Coledale, Newlands Valleys and Thornthwaite forest. The garden is enclosed and is safe for those with children or dogs.
Visiting Applethwaite & Exploring CumbriaThe hamlet of Applethwaite is in The Lake District National Park. There are a range of attractions and activities in the local area that all ages can enjoy. Keswick is fast gaining a reputation for England’s Adventure Capital. Some great days out are available nearby:

Journey down Lake Dernwentwater on a beautiful steamer.
Traverse Go-Ape! At Whinlatter Forest Park.
Go putting, play crazy golf and pitch and putt.

If you are a keen shopper then you will love the area as there are many shops and markets in the area with Keswick offering a wide range of shops.
Fell walking is readily available along with many places of interest to visit. There are things that you will find nowhere else in the world. From the world’s biggest pencil to the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Keswick is central to the whole of the Lake District with easy access to such places as Penrith, Ambleside, Windermere and the Solway Coast. Visitors may bring their own boat if they wish to launch it from Portinscale.
