Summary

Ty Mari offers luxury self catering accommodation located just outside the charming village of Cwmystwyth in Ceredigion. Our lovely holiday cottage is also just a short drive from the popular town of Aberystwyth.

Ty Mari

Ty Mari sleeps 6 with one double bedroom and two twin rooms as well as a bathroom and separate toilet. Downstairs is open plan with comfortable seating around the inglenook fireplace and a large dining table and window seat at the other end. There is a stunning detached garden room for peace and quiet that offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside!

Cwmystwyth falls in a luxury dead zone for mobiles but the cottage has its own land line and 20 Mbps internet. There is a 40 inch TV with Sky Freesat and DVD player with plenty of films for all ages to enjoy. There are also shelves with books, puzzles and games. There is a well equipped kitchen area along one wall and a microwave, a washer/dryer and a 4 drawer freezer is supplied for your convenience. The excellent Spa at Rhayader and Morrisons and M&S at Aberystwyth provide a wide range of supplies. Online deliveries are available from Asda or Tesco.

Pillows, duvets and electric blankets, sheets and towels are provided for each of the beds. Heating is supplied by night storage heaters but the gas stove ensures it is warm enough to be cosy even in deep Winter.

If you require more bedrooms and a second bathroom, there is a connecting sound proofed door to the adjoining cottage. When unlocked, you can enjoy two double bedrooms and three twin bedrooms with plenty of space for ten people. For details see our other property Penroc on our website.

The fenced garden area is limited and shared between Ty Mari and Penroc but there is space for cars, sunbathing and a barbecue for each cottage.

Visiting Cwmystwyth & Exploring Ceredigion

This attractive 17th Century cottage is on the outskirts of the tiny village of Cwmystwyth. It is seventeen miles inland from Aberystwyth along a mountain road. The cottage is surrounded by beautiful scenery and is in excellent walking country. Cwmystwyth is a farming community lying by the Cambrian Mountains and the cottage looks out onto sheep grazed uplands. Below, the Ystwyth valley with its ancient hanging oaks and contemporary coniferous woodland is one of the most beautiful valleys in mid Wales. There are glorious walks along by the river with spectacular waterfalls in wetter weather. The river is just three minutes walk away and is often clearly audible from outside the cottages themselves.

Devil's Bridge Falls, three miles from Cwmystwyth, is a famous tourist attraction and not to be missed, although the climb is not for the frail or faint hearted. Slightly further afield is the dramatic and varied Ceredigion coastline. Between Cwmystwyth and the market town of Rhayader lies the Elan Valley – a chain of hydroelectric dams set in glorious countryside and is well worth the twenty minute drive.

The Natural England manages the woodland around Cwmystwyth. The forest tracks provide a variety of walks and are particularly appreciated by dog owners as they are free of sheep. Many of the walks are way marked, but there are Ordnance Survey maps in each cottage. There are stunning views from the surrounding summits. Red kites and buzzards soar overhead and ravens, peregrines, sparrowhawks, merlins and goshawks may be seen.
