Highgreenrigg House Cottages, Caldbeck, Cumbria, Lake District
Sleeps 1-10 No SmokingPets Welcome
Picture of the Holiday Cottage
In an elevated position, amidst totally unspoilt scenery, lies High Greenrigg House, within the Northern Fells of the Lake District National Park.

Originally a 17th Century hill farm, which is now a listed building, it has been tastefully converted to form three unique and beautifully crafted cottages.

The surrounding countryside is there to explore. On a fine day the views towards the Caldbeck Fells and Scotland are simply breathtaking. The walks from the cottages are wonderful and varied. The pace of life
hasn’t changed since the farm was built.

Brae Fell Cottage : Sleeps 6 people in 3 double bedrooms:-

Ground Floor – Entrance Hall, open plan Living Room/Dining Kitchen. This is a characterful room with exposed ceiling beams and former original wooden Byre Stalls separating the kitchen/dining area from the living room. There is a living flame gas stove and glazed door to the gardens. This room is approx. 25’ x 15’6’’ overall. Small passage leads off to:-

One double bedroom with en-suite shower room. The shower room is much larger than average and most attractive.

Original stone stairs lead from the kitchen area to the first floor where there are two double bedrooms:-

One twin bedded room with en-suite shower room and large shower tray.

One double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with period style hand held shower. This bedroom has a king sized four poster bed.

High Pike Cottage : Sleeps 4 people in 2 double bedrooms.

Ground Floor - Entrance Hall – with utility room containing small belfast sink, automatic washing machine and tumble drier. Opposite
is a cupboard containing a freezer.

Hall leads to lofty sun area with large glazed door (in what was the original barn door), containing a sofa and two chairs and leading out to the garden. Door opens into double bedroom with attractive co-ordinating fabrics and en-suite bathroom with period style hand held shower over the bath. The bathroom is rather striking with stylish large tiles and wooden planked floor.

Stairs leading to first floor – through doors into the dining/living room, with kitchen separated by oak divider festooned with dried grasses and flowers. There is a living flame gas stove. The kitchen also has a wooden planked floor.

Along beamed passage with wooden planked floor to second bedroom containing King Size four poster bed and fabrics which co-ordinate
with some pretty accessories and personal touches. There is a custom made wardrobe which incorporates a T.V. A trouser press is also in the bedroom. The en-suite shower room has a larger than average shower with wooden planked floor.

Swallow's Rest Cottage : Entrance is through an oak stable door into the open plan living area with original exposed stone wall to one end. A fine stone fireplace with beam over houses a living flame gas stove.

To the side are two stone supports on which sit an old stone slab. The colour TV, DVD and hi-fi system are sited on this slab. A beamed area with built-in oak bookcase makes an attractive feature of the under stair space and solid oak planked floor is very much in keeping with the building.

The dining area leads through from the living room and this in turn leads into the kitchen both of which have oak planked floors.

The dining table is made of a cart wheel with tree trunk for the base and the chairs are rustic but comfortable. This is situated by the barn door, which is glazed and at many times of the year there are numerous birds to delight the eye. The swallows return home and nest in the slate overhang. This year there were five young swallows born at Swallows Rest.

The kitchen is custom made with all the units being of solid oak. There are mosaic slate tiles for the work tops with a double bowl ceramic sink and an induction hob set into the work tops. A built-in double over and microwave make cooking easier and the dishwasher, fridge and freezer are hidden behind oak doors underneath the work tops.

Oak stairs lead from the living room to the first floor with its pitched roof. Again all floors upstairs are oak planked. There is a king size bed with oak built in furniture and TV with video.

Original horizontal beam is a most unusual and rather romantic feature and this divides the bedroom from the galleried landing, which looks down onto the dining area.

From the gallery, through an oak door into the shower room which is highly appointed. The shower is tiled with large slate tiles and incorporates a deep shelf within the shower cabinet and is most attractive.

Full gas central heating throughout and to the rear of the kitchen through an oak door there is a scullery with automatic washing machine and tumble drier. There is room here to put wet boots and coats, etc.

All electricity and gas are included in the rent - apart from laundry facilities for which there is a charge - monies into an honesty wash pot.
