Situated near the legendary Eildon Hills in the Scottish Borders, Roulotte Retreat offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Founded by Avril & Alan, who also operate successful Yoga and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy businesses, Roulotte Retreat is infused with a Bohemian spirit characterised by a passion for adventure and a vibrant lifestyle.

Our enclave features a variety of French roulottes: Devanna, Karlotta, Gitana, Maharani, Shivanni, Zenaya and the Dutch roulotte, Rosa Bella. These charming roulottes are thoughtfully arranged around wildlife ponds in a wildflower meadow, each offering a unique and stylish retreat. For over a decade, passion and creativity have shaped this sanctuary, featuring individually themed roulottes and the Ruby, a 1930s Bowtop Gypsy caravan situated in the woodland garden of Horseshoe Cottage, complete with eclectic interiors and handwoven Indian rugs.

For group activities, dining, or simply enjoying the outdoors, guests can reserve 'The Studio.' Those seeking a tranquil experience can participate in seasonal retreats, including yoga, mindfulness and creative workshops.

All roulottes cater exclusively to adults, while Horseshoe Cottage welcomes families. Dogs welcome in Rosabella and Horseshoe Cottage, they must be well behaved and kept on leads at all times.

Each roulotte boasts distinctive features:

Devanna This offers a cosy salon with a woodburner and a luxurious bed, plus a private hot tub available for an additional fee.
Karlotta This provides a snug ambiance with a wood burning stove and scenic views, perfect for birdwatching.
Gitana This features enchanting butterfly windows and a private Indian copper tub outdoors, also for an additional fee.
Maharani This treats guests to a lavish interior with silk sari curtains and a private wood-fired eco sauna, available for an extra charge.
Zenaya This roulotte shines with vibrant décor and an exclusive outdoor copper tub, available for an additional fee.
Shivanni This roulotte offers a Himalayan-inspired decor and modern conveniences, ideal for a romantic retreat.
Rosa Bella Rosa Bella enchants with its Bohemian style, complete with a kitchen and outdoor dining area.
Horseshoe Cottage & Ruby These provide a family-friendly setting with a private garden and an optional outdoor wood-fired eco sauna.

Our retreat is a sanctuary for those seeking a distinctive and rejuvenating getaway.

Our site which lies just below the Eildons is easily accessible from the nearby Border towns of Melrose, Selkirk, St. Boswells, Kelso, Jedburgh, Galashiels, Lauder amongst others. The River Tweed flows nearby, in fact the very stream which runs through our meadow flows into this famous salmon fishing river, which meanders throughout the local countryside en route to the sea at Berwick upon Tweed. The beautiful valleys of Yarrow and Ettrick fan out from Selkirk and onwards up towards Moffat and Eskdalemuir where the famous Tibetan Monastery of Samye Ling is situated. Another neighbouring valley moves towards Peebles and its mountain biking terrain at nearby Glentress. Beautiful wild beaches are only an hour away and if you’d like a city hit then you can catch a train and be in the centre of Edinburgh in 55 mins or drive in just over an hour.
