Burnside is a traditional stone built cottage, approximately 140 years old. It takes it's name from the burn (stream) which runs in the garden.
Burnside has been recently tastefully refurbished to provide comfortable and cosy accommodation.
The cottage sleeps a maximum of four people and is situated in Skeabost bridge, which is about six miles from Portree, the main village on Skye and fifteen miles from Dunvegan.
The accomodation comprises of a long hallway from which all the rooms are accessed. Burnside is heated by electric wall heaters with adjustable thermostats. All the windows are double glazed.
The lounge/dining room has a traditional slate open fire (first supply of logs provided) for cosy, relaxing evenings.
The bedrooms comprise of a twin bedded room with views across the loch and a double room which looks out upon a wooded area to the rear of the house. All bed linen and towels are provided.
Burnside is in an excellent position to explore the middle and north of Skye
Walking and climbing and sightseeing.Being centrally positioned Burnside is a good base for exploring the Trotternish peninsular with the old man of Storr and the Quiraing with its weird rock formations.
The pretty Waternish peninsular is also easily accessible, with the little port of Stein and the oldest inn on Skye.
Golf is offered at the Skeabost country house hotel which is within walking distance from the cottage. River fishing can also be arranged through them.
Dunvegan Castle is about 15 miles to the west.
Boat trips are available from Portree and seal sighting trips from Dunvegan.
The port of Uig is about a 40 minute drive away and from here boats leave for the outer isles, day trips are available throughout the summer season.
Rates: £360 to £470 per week depending on season.
Maximum of 4 people.
Children are welcome.
