Summary

Farwood Barton Holiday Cottages are three barn conversions in an old Victorian court yard, boasting stunning rural views of the surrounding Devonshire countryside. Our self catering holiday homes are located on a farm in the peaceful Coly Valley, just a short walk to the centre of Northleigh, a pretty village near Colyton.

All of our self catering holiday cottages are spacious and have underfloor heating using geothermal heating. Guests have access to a shared tennis court and outside games barn.

The Wheel House

This thoughtfully converted one level cottage has views to open farm land from every room. Sleeping up to 8 people plus a cot, the holiday cottage has three bedrooms. Two are double en suite rooms and the other is a twin. Two more can snuggle on a sofa bed in a curtained off area of the spacious lounge. There are just a few steps into the large lawned/patio area which joins the tennis court. It has its own barbecue and garden furniture. The dining table sits up to 8 people, but, when rented with The Leat House we will change the table for the banqueting table which will sit up to 14 people easily. In the lounge is where you find ‘the turbine', which is covered with safety glass and was last used 70 years ago to drive milling and other old machinery.

The Leat House

The Leat House sleeps up to 4 plus a cot and includes a king size bedroom and a super king/twin room, both of which are en suite. Our holiday cottage has an open plan well equipped kitchen/dining/lounge area. All of the rooms feature vaulted ceilings with original beams and brick features giving them a historic look with modern features. The lounge has a log burner for cosy nights on autumn/winter breaks. There is also a 32” TV and separate DVD player, radio/CD player, a selection of DVD’s, books and games for your use.

The Apple Loft

Set in a large Victorian Court Yard, The Apple Loft has been recently converted from the farm's Old Apple Loft and Cellar, where apples were once milled and pressed for cider, into a modern home with character features, such as vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, brick features and flint walling, incorporating the old drive shaft to the apple mill. Built as an upside down house to take advantage of the of the beautiful, panoramic rural views of the Coly Valley, it is in an idyllic setting and only a short distance from the East Devon/West Dorset Jurassic Coast. The holiday cottage includes a king size bedroom and bathroom. A comfortable sofa bed in the lounge and a cot allow sleeping for 4 people plus a cot. The open kitchen/dining/lounge area includes a sofa, sofa bed, dining table seating up to 4, TV/DVD player, radio with CD player, a supply of books and DVD’s and games and a log burner for cosy autumn/winter breaks. The well equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, electric oven with hob, fridge with a freezer department, microwave oven, toaster, kettle and wine rack. The holiday cottage also includes a washer/dryer.

We also have excellent facilities onsite, including a tennis court and games barn. Inside the barn there a large range of games, entertainments, table football, table tennis, snooker/billiards, darts and even a skittle alley.

Visiting Northleigh & Exploring Devon

The holiday barns are only 4 miles from the coast, with south facing with panoramic views of the unspoilt East Devon countryside. We are an ideal retreat for walkers, couples, families and groups who want to enjoy a quiet break away, with the option of holidaying together while still having your own private space. There are many wonderful walks that start straight from the farm and the nearby Blackdown Hills are a great place to explore for those who enjoy a good hike through the countryside. The hills are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so you can be sure of seeing many spectacular views
