Summary

Gellideg is a cosy, traditional Welsh cottage full of warmth and character. Built-in the 1850s, the house has been lovingly refurbished in recent years to offer the perfect mix of modern comforts and original charm. Tucked away in the hamlet of Cwmhiraeth, just ten minutes from Newcastle Emlyn, the cottage sleeps four in two bedrooms and two bathrooms and is popular with couples, families, and friends looking to get away from it all. With a beautiful private garden overlooking the Teifi Valley and a balcony for star gazing, it’s a haven for nature lovers.

Accommodation

Our cottage dates from the 1850s and is perfect for a romantic retreat. The stylish accommodation is finished to a high standard and comes with quality facilities.

Inside we have a beamed sitting room with a traditional wood burner, smart TV with Freesat, Bluetooth speaker for music, books, board games and puzzles. The open plan countryside kitchen/dining area comes with a range of appliances: fan-assisted oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and a coffee machine. There is a wooden dining table and French doors to a balcony bridge adjoining the garden.

The main bedroom has a king bed and French doors to a private balcony. Next door is a modern bathroom with a rain shower and a deep double-ended bath. The second bedroom has twin beds and an en suite electric shower.

Outside we have a pretty garden with stunning countryside views, and three patio areas with outdoor furniture for al fresco dining.

Note:
Gellideg is baby and child friendly, with discreet stair gates throughout and useful items (e.g. cot, highchair, baby monitor) supplied on request and free of charge.

We happily accept one small to medium, well behaved dog. The garden is bordered by hedges but as there are often sheep in the next field, we ask that your dog are closely supervised in the garden. The lower patio is a secure area for your dog when all gates are closed

Visting Cwmhiraeth & Exploring Carmthenshire

There are ten spectacular beaches all within half an hour’s drive. Discover secret coves as you walk the coast path or spot the bottlenose dolphins and grey seals seen regularly. Take a boat trip from New Quay, potter around bustling Cardigan, or visit colourful Aberaeron.

A bit further afield are Folly Farm and Aberystwyth where you can ride the steam train high up into the Cambrian Mountains, drinking in the spectacular scenery. The area is home to a multitude of local artists, artisan food producers and great places to eat, from cosy gastro pubs to Michelin Guide restaurants.

The area around Gellideg was once the beating heart of the Welsh woollen mill industry. Wandering the footpaths through ancient woodlands, you’ll come across old mills, babbling streams and tumbling waterfalls.
