Plas Glansevin

Llangadog, Carmarthenshire, Brecon Beacons National Park

Sleeps 1-62

Summary

Plas Glansevin is an impressive mansion located in the Towy Valley at the western foothills of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Set in over 5 acres of private grounds, Glansevin was built during the Napoleonic war as a family home; it is now into its 3rd century as a residence. From the 16th century, until after World War II, the house was the seat of one of the oldest surviving families in Wales. Both lines of the family are of Celtic and royal origin, with connections from Edward I and Tendwr Mawr (Tudor the Great).

Accommodation

The oldest part of the house – bedroom 11 and the sitting room below it – was known as the Tudor House. An expansive hallway welcomes you to the mansion, with a large games room on one side and a spacious, elegant drawing room on the other side, boasting an open coal fire and bar. Three additional smaller reception rooms with TV facilities and projector screens are further along from the hall. The dining room seats 70-80 people, and an inglenook fireplace will keep you warm. We have a fully equipped kitchen looking out into the dining room and an additional preparation kitchen close by.

The house boasts 20 bedrooms sleeping 42 guests, ranging from large bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms to more modest accommodation. If you require additional accommodation, you can also rent the Carriage Rooms from our neighbours.

The large grounds are the perfect place to play games or relax in the sunshine, with an open-air unheated swimming pool and a sauna. You can walk immediately into the countryside from the gardens, or if you want to go further afield there are castles, waterfalls, rivers and lakes to discover in the nearby mountains. There are delicious eateries, art galleries, a deer park and botanical gardens all within a short drive. A stay at Plas Glansevin offers a slice of Wales at its very best.

This Grade II* listed Georgian mansion is an elegant and unique place to stay and is ideal for large groups. Whether you are arranging a weekend getaway, a special celebration, a wedding or a corporate event, this fine country house is an excellent venue. We can put you in touch with local caterers, wedding planners, outdoor activity providers and professional walk leaders.

We are a licensed wedding venue and ceremonies can take place beside the ancient 900-year-old oak tree on the front lawn, or inside by the roaring fire. Marquees can be put up on the back lawn which allows for higher reception numbers.
