Summary

Harbour Cottage is located in idyllic surroundings, just 4 miles north of Castlebay on Barra in the Western Isles. Our holiday home is perfect for those who are looking for a relaxing break away.

Accommodation

Harbour Cottage, originally built as a croft house, is based right on the water's edge and command superb views across the Minch to Skye, Rhum and the mainland.

Accommodation consists of a lounge, a fully equipped kitchen with cooker, refrigerator, automatic washing machine and microwave.

Upstairs in the holiday cottage there is a cosy sun lounge, with stunning views across land and sea, one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and one bedroom with a double and a single bed. The bedrooms have sloping roofs. Fittings are new and of good quality.

The bathroom is located downstairs. Heating is provided by a coal fire as well as storage and panel heating throughout. All linen and towels are provided free of charge. Coal is not provided.

The island has a beautiful open garden to relax and unwind in, making us a truly idyllic holiday destination.

Local Area

The coastland around the cottages has many inlets and sandy coves and seals frequently swim into the bay between the two cottages. Here also can be seen herons, oyster-catchers, cormorants and guillemots, as well as a variety of other seabirds.

A short car drive from both cottages will take you to the glorious golden sands of Vatersay, Tangusdale and Eoligarry. Barra is famed for its beautiful unspoilt views and at the Traigh Mhor you will see the plane land on the beach each day. We are sure that you will enjoy your stay with us and we will do our utmost to ensure that you have an enjoyable time on the Isle of Barra. Your host, Eppa, will be happy to help you in any way and to provide information on points of interest locally, such as arranging visits to Kisimul Castle, ancient stronghold of the Clan MacNeil, or trips to the neighbouring islands.
