Summary

Red Doors Farm Cottages are situated in the heart of the Blackdown Hills in Beacon, Devon. The Holiday cottages are also just a short drive from the popular market town of Honiton. Our extensive facilities are set in two acres of beautiful, well kept gardens and include a large heated indoor swimming pool, games rooms and children’s' play areas (both indoors and outdoors). There is so much to keep you entertained here at Red Doors but also there is a wide variety of activities/attractions nearby.

The Farmhouse

A charming and delightful thatched 500 year old Grade II listed Devon long house of stone and cob with original beams, oak panelling and flagstone floor. The property has been renovated to provide superb accommodation for the larger or extended family. Dining hall, bespoke wooden kitchen with feature bread oven and Aga (+electric oven) and breakfast table. Large drawing room with inglenook fireplace. First floor: 4 bedrooms (1 king, 1 double, 2 twin, all Vi Spring mattresses). Shower room with WC. Bathroom with WC, whirlpool bath with power shower over. Can be used in conjunction with another property as the dining hall can seat up to 14 people.

Byre Cottage

A thatched, stone and cob cottage, in parts 400 years old and Grade II listed, complete with climbing roses and clematis which adjoins the main farmhouse. Entrance hall, kitchen with dining area. Sitting room with beamed ceiling, original oak shutters and log burner. Shower room with WC. First floor: Three bedrooms (1 double, 2 twin, all Vi Spring mattresses). Bathroom with WC.

Orchard Cottage

Detached stone cottage with private garden. Entrance hall. Three bedrooms (1 double, 2 twin, all with Vi Spring mattresses). Bathroom/WC. Separate WC. First floor: Large open plan sitting/dining room with log burning stove and fully fitted bespoke wooden kitchen area. Dining area can seat 10. French windows onto balcony overlooking countryside.

Cider Barn

Detached, thatched, stone and cob cottage converted from the barn that used to house the farm cider press. Large bespoke wooden kitchen/dining room. Sitting room with beamed ceiling and French windows opening onto lawn. First floor: Two double bedrooms (1 king, 1 with 3 single beds, all with Vi Spring mattresses). The double has magnificent uninterrupted views over Dumpdon Hill. Bathroom with WC.

Holly Cottage

Tucked away in the furthermost corner of the property, Holly Cottage is converted from a single storey stone and cob barn. It is a traditional country cottage in keeping with its original features. Sitting room with inglenook and log burner. Kitchen/dining area with bespoke wooden kitchen. Bedroom with king size bed (Vi Spring mattress) and glorious views across the Otter Valley. En suite bathroom with whirlpool bath and power shower. Private lawned garden with delightful countryside views.

Swallows Loft

A first floor apartment converted from an old stone barn with a traditional feel and a contemporary twist. The accommodation comprises of a large sitting/dining room with a sofa and armchair and a cosy log burner. Raised bespoke kitchen concealed by oak screen made from reclaimed cider vats. Stairs up to bedroom with four poster king sized bed (Vi Spring mattress) and stargazing windows. Sumptuous bathroom with whirlpool bath and large separate shower.

Facilities include an indoor and outdoor play area, BBQ hut and sauna.

Visiting Beacon & Exploring Devon

We are 3 miles from the market town of Honiton and Exeter is a 30 minute drive away. East Devon is known as the 'countryside by the sea' and the unspoilt southern coastline with its beaches, pretty fishing villages and smugglers coves is only half an hour away. The area is superb for walking whatever your level of fitness. You can enjoy fine countryside and fabulous views right from our doorstep, follow the coastal path or explore the wilds of Dartmoor and Exmoor. There are also many historic houses, castles and gardens including some fine National Trust properties such as Killerton House, Castle Drogo and Knightshayes Court.
